and everyone just says in case,
you find yourself behind the walls of 54 tonight, you wouldn’t be here if you were just fine,
but it’s a delightful shiny place.

So walk on by as I walk deeper into my own head again,
another night of aimless walking and I might just turn around to call you friend.
But I’m back down, don’t need you now, sleepwalking to that old bridge somehow,
and I swear that I’m okay.

Maybe if I tie myself to the bridge I won’t waste July away,
the headlights whisper on the Capital Beltway
and I wish that I could melt into the rain that falls before me,
but I cannot deny this cheap disguise that’ll leave me behind those yellow plaster walls again.
